    Atlas ofrece la más amplia variedad de opciones de prueba para ayudarle a determinar con precisión la resistencia a la luz y a la intemperie de productos y formulaciones de materiales, incluyendo las propiedades de color y apariencia, así como la eficacia aditiva y el rendimiento funcional.

     
    Los productos coloreados con tintes y pigmentos como textiles, tintas/pinturas/revestimientos, plásticos, alimentos y bebidas, papel y otros pueden decolorarse o cambiar de color cuando se exponen a la luz solar, o incluso a la iluminación interior de almacenes, hogares y oficinas. Los aditivos protectores y funcionales a menudo se agregan a los materiales, especialmente cuando son sometidos a las tensiones combinadas del clima exterior, para mejorar el rendimiento. Sin embargo, su eficacia para mejorar la durabilidad y la duración del producto debe determinarse con precisión tanto para el desarrollo del producto como para la garantía.

    Si bien hay muchos estándares internacionales y métodos de prueba disponibles, estos a menudo no son aplicables a materiales específicos, o el tamaño y la forma del producto pueden ser una consideración de prueba importante.     Las exposiciones al aire libre naturales y aceleradas pueden realizarse bajo vidrio o expuestas directa al sol y al clima. Las pruebas artificiales al intemperismo o de solidez de color aceleradas en laboratorio, usando fuentes de xenon arc de espectro solar completo filtrado ópticamente, se pueden llevar a cabo en conformidad con los métodos de prueba estándar de la industria en su laboratorio o en el nuestro. Para pruebas de productos de gran tamaño, los laboratorios de Atlas tienen cámaras ambientales equipadas con fuentes especializadas de haluros metálicos de espectro completo para la simulación solar en grandes áreas.

    Dependiendo de su producto y de las necesidades específicas, Atlas tiene una amplia variedad de instrumentos de intemperismo y de solidez del color de laboratorio. Nuestros instrumentos Xenotest se utilizan comúnmente para pruebas de textiles o pruebas de poco volumen de pinturas y revestimientos, plásticos, tintas, etc. Los instrumentos del Serie Ci de Atlas son de mayor potencia, de mayor tamaño de muestra e instrumentos de capacidad de muestra en general y cumplen con la mayoría de los métodos de prueba estándar de la industria. Los instrumentos SUNTEST abarcan desde unidades de mesa, útiles para ensayos de muestras pequeñas, hasta modelos de pie adecuados para muestras de prueba individuales más grandes, o aquellos con mayor tridimensionalidad que las muestras planas comunes.

    Por lo general, se prefieren los espectros solares completos o filtrados con vidrio de ventana sobre las pruebas que solamente utilizan UV, especialmente para las propiedades de color y apariencia. Esto se debe a que muchas reacciones de fotodegradación son el resultado de una exposición a la luz ultravioleta de alta onda y a la luz visible, y las temperaturas de la muestra son más cercanas a las del uso real del servicio. Sin embargo, si la sensibilidad a la longitud de onda de su producto es bien comprendida, la prueba de condensación fluorescente con el UVTest puede ser apropiada, o si es requerida por una norma.
